Andhra Pradesh
This Indian peninsular state lying on the east coast is mountainous in its northern regions, with the highest peak, Mahendragiri, rising 1500 m above sea level. Andhra Pradesh also has the longest coastline (972 kms) among all the states in India, with numerous beaches. It is a state deeply steeped in culture, tradition and religious fervour. And yet it has not failed to take giant strides in modernisation. Here is a land with a plethora of religious shrines Hindu, Muslim and Buddhist, amazing natural wonders like caves, cataracts, hills, forests and beaches, cuisine that tickles the taste buds and a rich historical heritage that is redolent of royal splendour, adventurism and daring. It is a vital link to India's past, with numerous historical monuments and architectural ruins, the legacy of dynasties that ruled in the past. The sheer aristocratic magnificence of the former Nizams of Hyderabad, treasured in museums, leaves one dazzled and breathless.
 GETTING HERE
The capital of Andhra Pradesh is Hyderabad, which is linked by air, rail and road to all major cities of India and by air to many important destinations abroad. All important tourist destinations in Andhra Pradesh are linked with Hyderabad by road and rail.
Nagarjunasagar: Hyderabad is the nearest airport (150 kms). Nearest railway station is at Macherla (24 kms). There are regular buses from Hyderabad, Guntur and Vijayawada to Nagarjunasagar.
Tirupati: Airport at Renigunta is connected to major airports of south India. From the airport, bus and taxi services are available to Tirumala temple. The railhead at Tirupati is well connected to all major cities in India. Shuttle buses ply throughout the day from Tirupati to Tirumala (22 kms). Frequent bus services are also available to Tirupati from most towns in South India.
Vijaywada: Closest airport is at Hyderabad. There are trains from Vijaywada to all parts of the country, including Delhi.
Visakhapatnam: It has a small airport with daily flights from Hyderabad (650 kms) and Mumbai. It is also linked by rail and road to major cities of India.
Kurnool: Kurnool is connected to most cities and towns in Andhra Pradesh by road and rail. Nearest airport is at Hyderabad (210 kms).
Warangal: Nearest airport is at Hyderabad (150 kms). Warangal is connected to all the major cities in India by rail and to cities of South India by road.
 WHAT TO SEE
Hyderabad
Charminar, Birla Mandir, Legislative Assembly, Lumbini Park, NTR Gardens, Botanical Gardens, Qutb Shahi Tombs, Salar Jung Museum, Nehru Zoological Park, Birla Planetarium, Birla Science Museum, Andhra Pradesh State Museum, Mecca Masjid, Osmania University, Hi-tech city, Laad Bazar, Nizam's Jubilee Museum, Golconda Fort, Ramoji Film City, Hussainsagar Lake, Osmansagar and Shamirpet.

Nagarjunasagar
Nagarjunasagar Dam is an engineering wonder, being the tallest masonry dam in the world.

Around Nagarjunasagar are several places worth visiting, namely Anupu for its relocated ancient Buddhist University, the ruins of which were found during special excavations; Nagarjunakonda hill for the nine monuments transplanted from the valley and a museum containing relics excavated from the valley; Ethipothala waterfall which is eight kms from Nagarjunasagar and the Tiger Sanctuary lying between Nagarjunasagar and upstream Srisailam.

Tirupati
Nestled among the high Eastern Ghats, the Lord Venkateswara temple has been a divine place of pilgrimage for thousands of devotees.

Besides the main shrine there are several other temples and sacred spots like Swami Pushkarni, Akasa Ganga, Sila Thoranam, Kanipakam (Ganesh temple), Kapila Teertham, Narayanavanam, Goddess Alamelumanga temple and Srikalahasti. Other places worth visiting are Sri Venkateshwara Sanctuary (a wild life park) and waterfalls of Kailasanathkona and Talakona.
Vijayawada
This city is situated 270 kms from Hyderabad. Victoria Museum, Prakasam Barrage, Kanakadurga temple, Rajiv Gandhi Park, Gandhi Hill, St. Mary's Church, Moghalrajapuram Caves, Bhavani Island, Hazrat Bal Mosque, Undavalli Caves, Lord Narsimha temple at Mangalagiri, Hinkar Thirtha, Kondapalli Fort, Manginapudi Beach, Kuchipudi, Amravati, Kolleru Lake and Buddhist Sites like Bhattiprolu, Goli, Guntupalli, Ghantasala and Chinna Ganjam are some of the attractions in and around the city.

Visakhapatnam
This port city has many tourist attractions like the Kailasgiri Park, VUDA Park, Ramakrishna Mission Beach, Lawson's Bay, Dolphin's Nose, Indira Gandhi Zoological Park, Mudasarlova lake, Etikopakka, Rushikonda Beach, Bheemunipatnam Beach, Simhachalam temple, Appikonda temple, Panchadharala natural springs, Borra Caves, Anantgiri, Araku Valley, Tyda (wild life and camping), Kondakarla lake, Balighattam, Annavaram and Buddhist sites like Sankaram, Bavikonda, Thotlakonda and Pavuralakonda.

Kurnool
The Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh has several places worth visiting like Srisailam, Nagarjunasagar Srisailam Tiger Reserve, Mantralayam, Mahanandi, Belum Caves, Rollapdu Sanctuary, Ahobilam, Yaganti, Alampur, Gadwal and Konda Reddy Buruju.

Warangal
It is famous for its picturesque lakes, hand-woven thick cotton fibre carpets, scroll painting done on cloth in earth colours mainly at Cheriyal nearby, and sheet-metal artistry at Pembarti. Important places of tourism in and around Warangal include Thousand Pillar Temple, Bhadrakali Temple, Warangal Fort, Ramappa Temple, Ramappa Lake, Eturunagaram Wildlife Sanctuary, Pakhal Lake, Kolanupaka and Pembarti.
