This
Indian peninsular state lying on the east coast is mountainous in its northern
regions, with the highest peak, Mahendragiri, rising 1500 m above sea level.
Andhra Pradesh also has the longest coastline (972 kms) among all the states
in India, with numerous beaches. It is a state deeply steeped in culture,
tradition and religious fervour. And yet it has not failed to take giant
strides in modernisation. Here is a land with a plethora of religious shrines
Hindu, Muslim and Buddhist, amazing natural wonders like caves, cataracts,
hills, forests and beaches, cuisine that tickles the taste buds and a rich
historical heritage that is redolent of royal splendour, adventurism and
daring. It is a vital link to India's past, with numerous historical monuments
and architectural ruins, the legacy of dynasties that ruled in the past.
The sheer aristocratic magnificence of the former Nizams of Hyderabad, treasured
in museums, leaves one dazzled and breathless. |
