Located on the western coast of India by the Arabian Sea, Goa
is known as a Tourist Paradise for its spectacular natural beauty,
long beaches and its beautiful temples, churches and colonial
mansions. This wonderful place attracts over a million tourists
every year, mostly the young, from India and abroad. It is known
better as a fun place, where one can relax and wind down. It's
the ultimate destination for sun and surf. The interiors of
Goa, with its numerous wildlife sanctuaries, are equally breathtaking.
There are no less than four sanctuaries, with an amazing assortment
of flora and fauna. |

| GETTING
HERE |
All flights to
and from Goa operate from the Goa International Airport, Dabolim,
near the port town of Vasco da Gama. Goa has daily flights to
and from Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai and Pune and twice a week
to Chennai and Cochin. There are international flights to Kuwait
and U.A.E and charter flights to U.K, Germany and Switzerland.
Trains connect Goa to Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Bangalore,
Thiruvanantapuram and many other cities.
The cities of Panaji, Vasco da Gama and Margao are well connected
to Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore by road. Regular bus service
is available from Mumbai to Goa.
Canacona: Buses running south to Karwar via
Chaudi drop one within 2 kms of the beach. Palolem:
There are a couple of buses daily from Margao to Palolem.
Mapusa: Trains from Mumbai stop at Thivim,
12 kms from Mapusa. From there one can hire a taxi. Mumbai,
Pune and a number of other cities are linked to Mapusa by road.
Buses from Mumbai/Pune to Goa pass through Mapusa. Margao:
Konkan Railway links it to many cities. It is linked by road,
and buses stop at various places inside the town. Marmagao:
The nearest railway station is situated at Vasco da Gama. One
can get to Vasco by bus from Panjim or Margao and then from
Vasco, one can catch the ferry to reach Marmagao harbour.
Vasco da gama: Dabolim airport is four kms from Vasco da Gama.
It is also linked by rail and road to various cities. |

Panjim
The capital of Goa is Panjim, located on the south bank of Mandovi
river. Its rich Portuguese heritage is seen in its monuments
and churches. Tourist attractions here are Convent and Church
of the Cross of Miracles, Professed House and Basilica of Bom
Jesus, Cabo Palace, Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary, Royal
Chapel of St. Anthony, Carambolin Lake, Gate of the Palace of
Adil Shah, Chapel of St. Catherine, Kesarval Springs, Se Cathedral
Church, Viceroy's Arch, Candolim beach, Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary,
Archaeological Museum, Sao Tome, Church square, Calangute Beach,
Church of the Carmelites, Church of St. Cajetan, Mayem lake,
Sri Mahalakshmi Temple, Sri Vithal Temple, Sri Saptakoteeswar
Temple, Sri Devaki Krishna Temple, Sri Mahadev Temple, Fauna
Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary, Archives Museum, Aguada Fort, Miramar
Beach, Church of St. Francis Xavier, Paula Beach and ruins of
St. Augustine's Tower.
Canacona
Catigo Wildlife Sanctuary (10 kms from Chaudi), Palolem Beach,
Cavelosim Beach, Agonda beach (10 kms), Shree Mallikarjun Temple,
Shree Sanusthan Gokarn Parthagali Jeevotham Matth (a hermitage
with a few temples).

Mapusa
Anjuna Beach (8 kms), Albuquerque Mansion, Baga Beach, Chapora
beach and fort (10 kms), Sri Kalika & Sri Morjee temples,
Mascarenhas Mansion, Wednesday flea market, Acid house parties
(on full moon nights), Vagator Beach and Sri Mahadev Bhumika
Temple.
Margao
Colva Beach, Bernaulim Beach, Chandor (13 kms, Braganza house
- grand colonial mansion with many antiques), Chaud, Lutolim
(10 kms, colonial mansions like Miranda house and heritage centre
called Ancestral Goa), Old Market (souvenir bazar), Stately
Church of the Holy Spirit and Cavelosim Beach.
Marmagoa
Marmagao Fort and Varca Beach. Vasco da Gama
Bogmolo Beach (swimming, open water diving courses, guided dives
to shipwreck sites and coral beds off the coast), Naval Aviation
Museum (wonderful aircrafts and other related exhibits).
Arambol
Attractions include Arambol Beach (gliding site, wild parties,
dolphin watching and boat trips), Freshwater Lake (lined with
sulphurous mud due to hot springs) and Teracol Fort (reached
by ferry from Querim). |
