Haryana lies adjacent to Delhi, the capital of India. More than anything else, it is known for its agricultural and dairy produce. Yet with more than 40 tourist complexes, it is fast developing into a major tourist destination with ideal picnic spots, picturesque landscapes, adventure sports and numerous lakes. It is a place that is redolent of historical events, with numerous famous battles having been fought in its plains, right from the battle of Mahabharat in the ancient times to the last battle of Panipat a few centuries ago. For the pilgrim there are quite a few religious spots to choose from that remind one of mythical lores, very much a part of Indian lives.
